Hwang Bo-ra joins Choi Jin-hyuk, Park Joo-hyun in new KBS2 drama ‘The Zombie Detective’

Actress Hwang Bo-ra is confirmed to star alongside lead actors Choi Jin-hyuk (Rugal) and Park Joo-hyun (Extracurricular) in KBS2’s upcoming human fantasy series The Zombie Detective, according to her agency, Workhouse Company.

The Zombie Detective tells the story of a zombie who was resurrected two years ago and has since taken on the identity of the deceased human Kim Moo-young (Choi Jin-hyuk), CEO of a private investigations firm. As he lives among ordinary people, he comes across Kong Sun-ji (Park Joo-hyun), a highly optimistic, fair-minded, and persistent writer for an investigative current affairs program. When a witness for the case Sun-ji was working on gets attacked by an unidentified assailant, she decides to quit her job and eventually takes a part-time post at Moo-young’s agency.

Hwang Bo-ra signed up to play Kong Sun-young, Sun-ji’s lively older sister. She is married to Lee Tae-gyun (Ahn Se-ha, Selection: The War Between Women), a film director who loves his own charisma. Sun-young has a loud mouth and always nags her sister, but despite that, she shares a great chemistry with Sun-ji, her sibling whom she dearly loves.

Following her small-screen debut in 2002 with Bright Girl’s Success, Hwang Bo-ra went on to play distinct and memorable supporting roles in popular series such as Arang and the Magistrate (2012), Cunning Single Lady (2014), The Miracle We Met (2018), What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim (2018), and Vagabond (2019). She also appeared in cameo roles in Fight for My Way (2017) and Touch Your Heart (2019). The multi-genre actress was most recently seen in the legal rom-com drama Hyena (2020). In the current series, she is expected to display her versatility and charm once again as she breathes life into her vibrant character.

The Zombie Detective is spearheaded by director Shim Jae-hyun of The Producers (2015) and penned by scriptwriter Baek Eun-jin of Ssunday Seoul (2006). It is slated to air in the second half of the year.
