tvN’s Hospital Playlist 2 is off to a record-breaking start!
According to Nielsen Korea, the drama’s premiere episode, which aired June 17, garnered a city-wide average rating of 11.7 percent (peak: 14.9 percent) and a nationwide average of 10 percent (peak: 12.4 percent). The nationwide record is the highest first-episode viewership rating in tvN history, making Hospital Playlist 2 the first-ever tvN drama to chart double-digit ratings on day one.
The first season of the series franchise recorded lower city-wide and nationwide average ratings (7.1 and 6.3 percent, respectively) on its first episode. Meanwhile, other tvN drama premieres with successful nationwide reception were seen in Mr. Sunshine (2018; 8.9 percent), Encounter (2018–2019; 8.7 percent), Mr. Queen (2020–2021; 8 percent), and Vincenzo (2021; 7.7 percent).
Hospital Playlist 2 is the second installment of the hit medical drama Hospital Playlist (2020), which follows five medical doctors who share a life-long friendship and similar tastes in music. It stars Jo Jung-suk (Nokdu Flower), Yoo Yeon-seok (Mr. Sunshine), Jung Kyung-ho (When the Devil Calls Your Name), Jeon Mi-do (Mother), and Kim Dae-myung (The Sound of Your Heart).
The 12-episode series airs on tvN every Thursday at 9:00 p.m. KST and can be streamed on Netflix at 11 p.m. KST on the same day.
Meanwhile, Hospital Playlist 2′s fellow tvN drama My Roommate Is a Gumiho aired its eighth episode on June 17 and recorded 4.2 percent, while JTBC’s new series Monthly House logged in 2.3 percent for its second episode.
