Upcoming holiday-themed romance movie New Year Blues has released two main posters.
New Year Blues (also known as New Year’s Eve) tells multiple stories of romance and how the couples attempt to overcome their different fears and insecurities to pursue their happiness as they face another year.
In the film, Kim Kang-woo (High Society, Woman of 9.9 Billion) plays Ji-ho, a veteran detective who is tough on the outside but soft on the inside. Yoo In-na (Mr. Zoo: The Missing VIP, The Spies Who Loved Me) transforms into Hyo-young, a perfectionist physiotherapist whose confidence hides an insecure heart. After filing for a divorce lawsuit, Hyo-young requests for personal protection from the court and is assigned to Ji-ho, who was demoted from the violent crime squad to the civil service office. Meanwhile, Yoo Yeon-seok (Steel Rain 2: Summit, Hospital Playlist) portrays Jae-heon, a Korean living in Argentina who meets and falls in love with Jin-ah, played by Lee Yeon-hee (Detective K: Secret of the Lost Island, The Game: Towards Zero), another Korean living in the country. Both ran away from Korea for different reasons, but because of fate, they eventually cross paths.
Lee Dong-hwi (My First Client, Pegasus Market) suits up as Yong-chan. He runs a travel agency, but one day, his entire property gets stolen by an employee right before his marriage to a Chinese national named Yao Lin, played by Chinese actress Chen Du Ling (The Twins, Winter Begonia). Worried, he attempts to hide this misfortune from his bride. Meanwhile, Yeom Hye-ran (Baseball Girl, Mystic Pop-up Bar) plays Yong-chan’s sister Yong-mi, who constantly worries for the two and whose love for her brother and future sister-in-law transcends culture and language. Finally, Choi Soo-young (Miss and Mrs. Cops, Tell Me What You Saw) and Yoo Teo (Pawn, The School Nurse Files) portray long-time lovers Oh-wol and Rae-hwan. Rae-hwan is a national representative of the Paralympic Games, and because of this, their romance is always surrounded by prejudice. However, Oh-wol, an optimistic gardener, believes that love can overcome anything.
The two released main posters feature all nine main characters who will be forging their paths toward their happiness as they face the beginning of a new year. In the first poster, all eight characters lie side by side, forming a circle, while smiling brightly towards the cameras. Among them, Lee Dong-hwi is holding a tablet that shows a picture of a smiling Chen Du Ling. In the second poster, all nine characters have bright and hopeful smiles, with the backdrop of a reddish sunset and fireworks exploding, as if to greet the upcoming year. Both of the posters have a caption that reads, “Let’s be a little happier next year!”
Apart from unveiling its posters, New Year Blues has also confirmed its official premiere on December.
