Korean idol and actor Yoon Doo-joon may be returning to the small screen after three years with a new drama called There’s No Goo Pil-soo (literal title).
On April 2, insiders from the drama industry revealed that the 31-year-old star has already confirmed to appear in the said project. Yoon’s agency Around Us Entertainment later clarified the news, saying, “Yoon Doo-joon is [still] positively reviewing the proposal for the upcoming series There’s No Goo Pil-soo.” They then added, “He is currently occupied as his group has also been preparing for a comeback.”
There’s No Goo Pil-soo is described as a comical depiction of realistic stories about social and educational problems as well as employment struggles and start-up wars. It centers on the bromance between Goo Pil-soo, a breadwinner in his 40s who dreams of having a second peak in his life, and Jeong Seok, a genius in his 20s who aspires to establish his own start-up company. The two characters will depict a harmonious relationship that will bring two generations together, giving sympathy and comfort to the viewers with their warm and funny personalities.
Yoon Doo-joon is being offered to play Jeong Seok, a country boy with no private education but whose genius mind earned him a spot at a top university in Seoul. With a dream of becoming South Korea’s version of Mark Zuckerberg, Jeong Seok believes that studying is the easiest thing in the world and that the only way for him to succeed after being born poor is by launching a start-up business. His strong passion for success is all for the purpose of bringing happiness to his mother and the woman he loves.
Much attention is now focused on whether Yoon, who built a great reputation in Radio Romance (2018) and the seasonal drama Let’s Eat (2013, 2015, 2018), is going to take on his next role in There’s No Goo Pil-soo.
Penned by the same screenwriter duo behind SBS’s Backstreet Rookie (2020), Son Geun-joo and Lee Hae-ri, There’s No Goo Pil-soo is presently discussing its formation with broadcasting networks.
