Han Lee-young joins cast of upcoming webtoon-based drama ‘True Beauty’

Upcoming webtoon-based series True Beauty from tvN will be getting another cast member, as actress Han Lee-young has confirmed to join the production. Her agency S&A Entertainment announced the news on October 6.

The teen romance drama follows a shy, acne-stricken teenager who becomes an overnight internet star due to her makeup skills. Worried that she might lose her celebrity status, she hides her bare face and refuses to go out without a full-face makeup. Han will be playing the role of Ha Ji-young, a student in Saebom High School and one of the classmates of the lead female character.

The drama features Moon Ga-young (Find Me in Your Memory) as the overnight social media star Lim Ju-gyeong; Cha Eun-woo (Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung) as the aloof and cold campus celebrity Lee Su-ho; and Hwang In-yeop (18 Again) as the social butterfly Han Seo-jun.

Prior to this project, Han Lee-young appeared in the web series When You Love Yourself (2018) and the music video for Jang Deok Cheol’s “See You Later” released last year. Han is looking forward to this new project and said, “The atmosphere in the production set is bright and exciting. I am happy and grateful to be able to get a role in this series. I will do my best, so please support and look forward to it.”

True Beauty is headed by director Kim Sang-hyeop (Extraordinary You) and screenwriter Lee Si-eun of (Top Star Yoo Baek). The series is set to premiere in the latter part of the year.

It was Princess Lulu who first introduced her to Korean dramas but it was Yoon Ji-hoo from Boys Over Flowers who enticed her to stay in K-dramaland. She writes news and features for Kdramapal, which combines two of her most favorite things in the world—writing and K-dramas (look who's living the dream). The name Luna literally translates to "moon" and nothing special; she just likes writing at night.
