“Goblin” star Lee El considering role in OCN’s “Black”

OCN is set to air this October a new fantasy drama titled Black starring Song Seung-heon (Saimdang, Light’s Diary) and Go Ara (Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth). Lee El (Goblin) might become the latest addition to the cast of the drama as her agency confirmed that she is considering an offer for her to join the cast of Black.

Black will center on the story of a grim reaper who borrows the body of a detective man named Han Moo-kang who will be played by Song Seung-heon. He is described as a man with a happy and cheerful personality before the Grim Reaper possesses his body. As a grim reaper called the “Grim Reaper of Criminals” and “Man in Black,” he is known for not cringing even if he is faced with the worst crime scenes. He will fall in love with a female human (Go Ara), an act against the rules of heaven that will result in having all of his memories erased from the world.

Artist Company, Lee El’s agency, did not disclose the details of the role offered to her. She previously appeared in the hit drama Goblin as a goddess named Samshin and in the 2015 film Inside Men. She is currently filming a new movie titled Wind Wind Wind.

Black is written by Choi Ran, the screenwriter who penned God’s Gift: 14 Days, and will be directed by PD Kim Hong-sun of the hit crime drama Voice. OCN announced earlier this year that it will complete its drama lineup for the year. The network welcomed 2017 with Voice and broadcast Tunnel afterwards. Tunnel was then followed by the currently airing clone thriller drama Duel, which will be replaced by Save Me on August 5. Black will be the network’s 5th drama on the Saturday-Sunday timeslot and will premiere some in October after Save Me ends its run.
