‘Flower of Evil’ stills unveil the many faces of Lee Joon-gi

Amping up the excitement for its upcoming premiere, tvN’s new thriller drama Flower of Evil has dropped the first still cuts of one of its lead stars, Lee Joon-gi.

Flower of Evil centers on the question, “What if your husband, the man you’ve loved for 14 years, is a suspected serial killer?” It follows the story of Baek Hee-sung (Lee Joon-gi, Lawless Lawyer), a seemingly committed husband hiding a dark past, and his wife Cha Ji-won (Moon Chae-won, Mama Fairy and the Woodcutter), a detective who slowly finds herself unmasking the man she thought she knew.

The freshly dropped shots magnify the two-facedness of Baek Hee-sung. When he is with his family, Hee-sung carries a bright, cheerful personality. He is all smiles when talking to his wife and his daughter (Jung Seo-yeon, Golden Garden), embodying a true family man.

However, when he is alone, his stoic and sinister persona takes over. In one of the stills, Hee-sung is shown in his metalworking studio. His grim expression seems to show his exhaustion in hiding his true self and putting up a common craftsman façade for years.

The production team shared, “Lee Joon-gi is full of enthusiasm and energy behind the camera. You will be [witnessing] his comprehensive acting [skill] set, such as melodrama, suspense, and action, [in the drama].

Flower of Evil, helmed by Kim Cheol-kyu (Confession) and written Yoo Jeong-hee (Naked Fireman), is slated to air as a Wednesday-Thursday drama starting July 29 at 10:50 p.m. KST.
