KBS2’s upcoming school romance drama How to Buy a Friend has dropped its first teaser!
Also known as Friend Contract, the drama is based on a popular webtoon of the same name. It tells the story of high school students Park Chan-hong (Lee Shin-young) and Heo Don-hyuk (Shin Seung-ho), who live completely different lives and sign a contract to be friends. While Chan-hong is an ordinary student, Don-hyuk is nicknamed “the legendary fist.”
Meanwhile, I.O.I member Kim So-hye plays Uhm Se-yoon, a high school senior who is popular in school and has a crush on Chan-hong.
The 40-second teaser brings to life scenes from the webtoon with surprising accuracy and detail. It begins with Chan-hong getting bullied at school. He is then seen locking eyes with the gorgeous Se-yoon, and the two proceed to hang out. A boy with the strong, muscled physique of a wrestler is introduced as the “iron fist” Don-hyuk.
The teaser ends with Chan-hong and Don-hyuk sitting together in class, looking as different as chalk and cheese. They wonder how they ended up having a contractual friendship.
With over 16 million cumulative views on the original webtoon, How To Buy A Friend is expected to be similarly popular with fans. Directed by Yoo Young-eun (Manhole), the series will premiere on April 6 as the first Monday-Tuesday drama of KBS2 in 2020.
