First look at Choi Jin-hyuk, Park Sung-woong in sci-fi thriller ‘Rugal’

OCN has dropped the first teaser for its upcoming sci-fi thriller Rugal.

Starring Choi Jin-hyuk (Justice) and Park Sung-woong (When The Devil Calls Your Name), Rugal is based on a webtoon of the same name. It tells the story of an elite detective named Kang Ki-bum, played by Choi, who is working to expose a powerful criminal organization called Argos. The evil mastermind behind Argos, played by Park, sends his men to murder Kang’s wife and child and frames Kang for the crime. They also gouge out his eyes, making him incapable of revenge.

Kang Ki-bum is then approached by the National Intelligence Service. He is selected to be part of an organization called Rugal, which fights crime using “human weapons” created through biotechnology. Kang is fitted with a pair of artificial eyes that have special powers, and once again, tasked with ending Argos and avenging his family’s murder.

The 15-second teaser introduces Choi Ji-hyuk’s and Park Sung-woong’s characters and gives the viewers a sneak peek into the conflict between the two. Park is inside in a mysterious dark room, wearing a mask and leaning over a table, while Choi sits in a laboratory-style room with bandages wrapped around his head. Towards the end of the video, Choi takes off the bandages to reveal his artificial eyes while Park also uncovers his face. Choi’s voice announces, “The second he took everything from me, I was reborn.”

Directed by Kang Cheol-woo (My Secret Romance), Rugal is set to premiere on March 16 as a Monday-Tuesday drama.
