Synopsis

Ruler: Master of the Mask tells the story of Joseon Crown Prince Lee Sun who fights against an organization called Pyunsoo-hwe that has gained power and wealth through the privatization and monopolization of the water supply all over Joseon. For some reason, he has to hide behind a mask but still manages to bring hope for the people who suffer from all the injustices. He finds support from the woman he loves and becomes a true ruler.

Yoo Seung-ho as Prince Lee Sun. He is a crown prince who needs to hide behind a mask for a reason initially unknown to him. For his subjects, he strongly fights against all injustices and oppression.

Kim So-hyun as Han Ga-eun. She is said to be unladylike as she grew up in a family of warriors. Despite her mother’s early death and her family’s financial problems, she becomes a woman who has a gentle personality behind her strong and independent facade. She is the woman who will help Prince Lee Seon to be a just ruler.

Kim Myung-soo as Peasant Lee Sun. As needed, he swaps places with the Crown Prince Lee Seon and also wears a mask. Even if he is uneducated, he is born with intellect. He falls in love with Han Ga-eun who teaches him to read, gives him a name, and treats him well as a human being.

Yoon So-hee as Kim Hwa-gun. She is the granddaughter of the leader of the Pyunsoo-hwe which is against the monarchy. After personally meeting Prince Lee Seon, she begins to develop a dangerous unrequited love for the crown prince.
