Dong Ha, Kim Bo-ra to star in ‘KBS Drama Special: Thief Sleep’

Rising stars Dong Ha and Kim Bo-ra are set to pair up in one of the entries of the upcoming 2020 KBS Drama Special, Thief Sleep (literal translation), a source from the drama bureau revealed on the 14th.

Thief Sleep will tell the story of an ex-couple who somehow find themselves living together. Staying under one roof, they slowly begin knowing each other even better than when they were still in a relationship. However, getting accustomed to their current setup is one thing, but doing so while having to extinguish all rekindling feelings is another.

Dong Ha has signed up to play Lee Nam, a fourth-year business administration student who has not bothered changing his apartment’s passcode. Unknown to him, his ex-girlfriend keys in the numerical combination of her birthday to unlock the door at night and sneaks in for a sleepover.

The actor gained positive attention for his support roles in television series, such as Beautiful Mind (2016), Good Manager (2017), and Suspicious Partner (2017). He then appeared in his first KBS Drama Special: You Are Closer Than I Think during the show’s eighth season in 2017. Shortly after, he played a main character in Judge vs. Judge (2017). Dong Ha’s latest small-screen act was a cameo role in the crime-mystery series Queen of Mystery 2 (2018).

Meanwhile, Kim Bo-ra will portray Hong-joo, Lee Nam’s ex who now works as an assistant at a hair shop. She has no asset to her name or money in her bank account. Practically bankrupt, Hong-joo resorts to secretly sleeping inside Lee Nam’s apartment while the latter is working the graveyard shift at a convenience store.

Previously, Kim made notable performances in the series SKY Castle (2018–2019) and Her Private Life (2019) before impressing the viewers with her lead role in Touch (2020). Just recently, she took the spotlight once again in Joan’s Galaxy, an episode of the sci-fi anthology series SF8 (2020).

Thief Sleep will revolve around the questions, “How long will Hong-joo be able to keep up her risky scheme?” and “When Lee Nam catches her red-handed, will he take her in right away or will she need to come up with an elaborate plan to convince him?” Along with a roll of highly entertaining single-episode features, it is slated to air in the 11th season of KBS Drama Special this year.
