‘Doctor Prisoner’ drops thrilling new video teaser

On February 28, KBS2 released a video teaser for its upcoming medical thriller, Doctor Prisoner, starring Namgoong Min.

The teaser opens with Namgoong wearing a doctor’s coat and walking the hall of what seems to be a prison. The scene cuts to an operation theatre where Namgoong is performing surgery in the composed manner of a skilled professional, making precise incisions. A quote is displayed on the screen next, saying “Doctor: a person who cures a disease.” With intense music in the background, a worried looking Namgoong tries to save a dying patient’s life, shouting “200 – clear” as he administers shocks to the patient.

Immediately, the tone of the scene changes, growing darker and greyer, with Namgoong appearing in a sharp black suit. In shocking contrast to the previous scene, this time he stabs a man’s neck in a ruthless manner. Once again, the scene cuts to him walking the halls of a prison in his doctor’s coat. With a cold, almost-evil expression on his face, he looks at a prisoner inside one of the cells and declares, “I’ll let you out if you can handle pain worse than death.”

With a teaser so shockingly dark, the show manages to rouse the viewer’s interest in the dual characters that Namgoong Min is set to portray—a caring doctor whose disposition changed after he unfairly lost his job at a renowned hospital and end up working at a prison’s health clinic. The drama also stars Kwon Na-ra, Kim Byung-chul, and Choi Won-young in major roles. The combination of a talented cast and an unusual plot are sure to make Doctor Prisoner a show to watch out for, ahead of its premiere on March 20 at 10 p.m. KST.
