With Reunited Worlds premiering this July, more casting announcements are being released this month. MBK Entertainment has confirmed that Jung Chae-yeon of Kpop group DIA will have her second television series role on SBS’s supernatural fantasy romance drama Reunited Worlds. According to a representative, “Jung Chae-yeon will be playing the young version of the lead female role in ‘Reunited Worlds.’ She has had the meeting with the director already.”
Recently, it has been reported that Lee Yeon-hee (Hwajeong) and Yeo Jin-goo (Circle) were offered the leading roles in the drama. If they accept the offer, they would play the role of two childhood friends born in the same year who have aged differently — Lee Yeon-hee as a 31-year-old woman while Yeo Jin-goo as an 18-year-old man.
Lee Yeon-hee will take the role of Eom Hyeon-soo who is described to love drawing and dreams of attending art school. Unfortunately, she ends up in nursing school after her father’s bankruptcy. She then works as a personal nurse to a rich woman who has a terminal rare disease.
The younger version of Eom Hyeon-soo will be played by Jung Chae-yeon, who is known for her appearance in reality trainee survival show Produce 101 where she achieved the 7th spot with a total of 215,338 votes on the show’s finale. This achievement led her to debut as a member of Kpop project group I.O.I. in May 2016. Following her activities with I.O.I, she returned to her original group DIA and has also been active in acting, first starring in the web drama 109 Strange Things and as a 9th grade civil service student on tvN’s romantic comedy Drinking Solo.
Producer-writer team Baek Su-chan and Lee Hee-myung, who previously worked together on SBS’s romantic comedy Beautiful Gong Shim and action-comedy-thriller Girl Who Sees Smells, are teaming up once again for Reunited Worlds.
Reunited Worlds is set to take over SBS’s Wednesday-Thursday slot following romantic comedy Suspicious Partner. It will premiere on July 19, 2017, at 22:00 KST.
