Choi Tae-joon no longer taking part in Hong sisters’ ‘Hotel Del Luna’

Choi Tae-joon (The Undateables) has stepped down from tvN’s new fantasy-romance drama, Hotel del Luna. A source from the drama industry revealed on April 4 that the actor has withdrawn from the upcoming production because of a misunderstanding with the production team about the role he was assigned to perform.

Huayi Brothers, Choi’s management agency, confirmed the news and explained his side, “Choi Tae-joon positively reviewed the offer to participate in tvN’s Hotel del Luna. However, he has decided not to continue because of conflicts regarding the drama’s direction as well as his character’s role and importance in the story.”

However, a representative from tvN clarified that the actor did not make the decision independently, saying, “It is different from stepping down. We made final adjustments about a month ago, and Choi Tae-joon’s character was changed. After discussions, both parties have decided that Choi Tae-joon will not longer take on the role.”

Since Choi Tae-joon’s departure from the cast, there have been reports about Lee Tae-sun taking over the role, a claim refuted by the cable network. tvN said that the role offered to Lee is different from the one given to Choi.

Written by the Hong sisters, Hotel del Luna is headlined by Yeo Jin-goo (The Crowned Clown) and IU (My Ajusshi). Yeo has been cast to play a young and elite hotelier who is perfectionist and possesses an obsessive personality, while IU has signed up for the role of a con woman punished for all her wrongdoings.

Hotel Del Luna‘s premiere is slated for the second half of the year.
