Netflix is adding another webtoon-based series to its array of original Korean dramas, and actress Choi Sung-eun is being courted to appear in one of them.
On February 19, reports revealed that the actress has been cast for the main female role of Annarasumanara. In response, Choi Sung-eun’s agency Ace Factory said, “Choi Sung-eun has indeed received a proposal to appear in [Netflix’s] Annarasumanara. We are currently discussing it.”
Based on a webtoon written by Ha Il-kwon that was serialized on Naver Webtoon on 2010, Annarasumanara will tell the story of a girl who meets a childish yet mysterious magician. If she accepts, Choi will play female protagonist Yun Ai, a high school student who has lost the will to chase her dreams and is going through a difficult path. Lovestruck in the City (2020–2021) star Ji Chang-wook and True Beauty (2020–2021) star Hwang In-yeop are also being courted to star in the drama, but no confirmation has been released yet. The drama will be directed by Love in the Moonlight (2016) and Itaewon Class (2020) PD Kim Sung-yoon.
Choi Sung-eun made her debut in the film Start-Up, which boosted her presence as an actress. She is currently starring in JTBC’s new drama Beyond Evil, starring Shin Ha-kyun (Soul Mechanic) and Yeo Jin-goo (Hotel del Luna), which premiered on February 19.
Annarasumanara will air on Netflix and will be available for streaming in over 190 countries.
