Choi Si-won, Kang So-ra up to headline “Byun Hyuk’s Love”

Choi Si-won (She Was Pretty) and Kang So-ra (Neighborhood Lawyer Jo Deul-ho)  received an offer to play the leading roles in Byun Hyuk’s Love (working title), the newest drama from PD Song Hyun-wook who directed last year’s hit romantic comedy, Oh Hae Young Again.

SM Entertainment, Choi Si-won’s agency, revealed on July 31 that the singer-actor has received a casting offer from Byun Hyuk’s Love. According to the agency, nothing is confirmed yet but it is one of the projects being considered for his comeback from his mandatory military service. The actor enlisted in the military on November 19, 2015, and is expected to be discharged by August this year.

Similarly, Kang So-ra is also considering the offer according to her agency, Plum Entertainment. If the actress accepts the offer, the project will mark her third leading role in a drama, following Warm and Cozy in 2015 and Neighborhood Lawyer Jo Deul-ho in 2016.

Byung Hyuk’s Love is a romantic comedy depicting the love and friendship of three characters—Byun Hyuk, Baek Joon, and Je Hoon. Byun Hyuk is a third-generation chaebol who goes into hiding in a small village in the countryside. In contrast, Baek Joon comes from a poor family and makes a living by working several part-time jobs while Je Hoon is a smart, skilled young man who dreams to become rich.

Byun Hyuk’s Love, which is slated to air in the second half of the year, will be directed by PD Song Hyun-wook whose most recent drama is Introverted Boss.  PD Song directed hit dramas in the past such as Marriage Not Dating and Oh Hae Young Again. He is currently working on Meloholic, a drama starring TVXQ’s Yunho (Records of a Night Watchman) and Kyung Soo-in (Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo). He will begin working on Byun Hyuk’s Love right after finishing the production of Meloholic.

Me? Just an ordinary lad with an extraordinary (says this something called 'stereotype') habit of watching Korean dramas. It started with action-filled City Hunter and the rest, as they say, is history.
