Choi Kang-hee, Kim Young-kwang starrer ‘Hello? It’s Me!’ drops main posters

KBS2’s upcoming drama Hello? It’s Me! has dropped its main posters featuring lead stars Choi Kang-hee (Good Casting) and Kim Young-kwang (The Secret Life of My Secretary).

Based on the popular novel “Fantastic Girl” by Kim Hye-jung, Hello? It’s Me! is a fantasy-romantic-comedy series about a 37-year-old woman who has lost enthusiasm in her life. One day, she gets visited by her 17-year-old high school student self to remind her of her once younger version—bright, cheerful, passionate, and fearless. The series also stars Lee Re (Start-Up) and Eum Moon-suk (Backstreet Rookie).

The two unveiled posters feature onscreen couple Choi Kang-hee and Kim Young-kwang. Choi plays Ban Ha-ni, a middle-aged woman who has lost her sense of purpose in life, while Kim plays Han Yoo-hyun, a free-spirited and cheerful second-generation chaebol heir. One poster has Polaroid films featuring the two main characters, with an odd arrangement that can make the viewers raise questions. While the pictures of their heads are of their present, older selves, the pictures of their bodies show themselves 20 years in the past, with Yoo-hyun wearing casual clothes and Ha-ni wearing a high school uniform. While Yoo-hyun is looking directly towards the camera, smiling brightly, Ha-ni’s head is slightly tilted, as if looking at Yoo-hyun. He seems to be handing her a keychain, and she has her palm open to receive it.

In another poster, Yoo-hyun is wearing comfortable winter clothes while crouching on top of an orange chair. He is snuggling with one of the arms of Ha-ni’s bright orange, squid costume. While Yoo-hyun is smiling brightly in front of the camera, indicating that he is having fun, Ha-ni is standing still with a frown on her face. While the first poster features parts of their younger selves, the second poster exudes a more comical vibe.

The production crew commented, “We wanted to show the chemistry between Ha-ni, who is wearing a squid mascot, and Yoo-hyun, who is leaning on her and smiling brightly. [We wanted to portray them] as an ordinary woman in her 30s who is past her prime in life and has become dull who will meet a young-at-heart person who exudes Peter Pan-like qualities. We also wanted to capture the image of Yoo-hyun, who will grow into an adult in the future, with a heart that is pure and warm enough to melt even Ha-ni’s frozen heart and the hearts of others around him. Please look forward to seeing these two characters connect with each other and what kind of comfort and strength these two will provide to each other.”

Hello? It’s Me! will premiere on February 17 at 9:30 p.m. KST, following the conclusion of Cheat on Me If You Can.

It was Princess Lulu who first introduced her to Korean dramas but it was Yoon Ji-hoo from Boys Over Flowers who enticed her to stay in K-dramaland. She writes news and features for Kdramapal, which combines two of her most favorite things in the world—writing and K-dramas (look who's living the dream). The name Luna literally translates to "moon" and nothing special; she just likes writing at night.
