KBS2’s The Zombie Detective has unveiled the atypical pairing of Choi Jin-hyuk‘s and Park Joo-hyun’s characters in an eye-catching official poster for the upcoming supernatural comedy drama.
The Zombie Detective tells the story of a zombie who got resurrected two years ago but lost all memories of his past. He improves his speech and gait so he could live among ordinary people while hiding under the name Kim Moo-young (Choi Jin-hyuk, Rugal), a deceased human who led a private investigations firm. To blend well with his new identity, he takes part in a series of mystery solving with Kong Sun-ji (Park Joo-hyun, Extracurricular), a persistent and strong-willed former writer for a current affairs complaint program. Following an unfortunate incident involving her work, Sun-ji had to quit her job and soon winds up assuming a part-time post at Moo-young’s agency.
The 12-episode series is helmed by Shim Jae-hyun, assistant director of The Producers (2015), and penned by Ssunday Seoul (2006) screenwriter Baek Eun-jin.
The drama’s main promo visual reveals the unconventional partnership of Detective Kim Moo-young and Kong Sun-ji as they take over a messy crime scene. Dressed in a sleuth-like style, complete with a black overcoat, Moo-young shoots a fiery gaze at the camera. His rotting yet unbelievably attractive face gives off a great sense of confidence, as if Moo-young is declaring his readiness to unravel the mystery behind any case that will turn up before him.
Meanwhile, Kong Sun-ji radiates a more casual and youthful vibe as she sports an oversized pullover shirt, matched with a pair of track pants and a sling bag. As she kneels to get a closer look at the visible shreds of evidence on the outlined crime ground, Sun-ji lifts up her searchlight at the camera. Her firm expression suggests that she is prepared to take on some action and will not just become some idle assistant to Moo-young.
The two characters, whose origins and physical appearances are completely at odds, are expected to show unprecedented chemistry and an all-new kind of entertainment when the series finally hits the small screen.
The Zombie Detective is the first original collaborative content by terrestrial, over-the-top (OTT), and internet protocol television (IPTV) media platforms, having been jointly produced and invested in by three companies: KBS, Wave, and SK Broadband. Every Saturday, the two episodes will be released exclusively on Wave and B TV, followed by its release on KBS2 every Monday and Tuesday at 9:30 p.m. KST.
