Upcoming tvN mystery series High Class is working to sign up actress Cho Yeo-jeong for a lead role.
On November 19, Korean media outlet YTN Star revealed that Cho has been cast as the female protagonist in the said series. Her agency High Entertainment later clarified that the project is still under consideration and that a decision has not been made yet.
Previously titled She’s Too Close to Me, High Class will tell the story of a widow who sets out on a dangerous quest to uncover the truth behind her husband’s death. At a prestigious international school in Jeju Island, she meets another parent who later decides to join her in her fight. A forbidden relationship soon emerges from the deepest desires of the two women, who were initially brought together by their common roles as “moms.”
Cho Yeo-jeong is being courted to play Song Yeo-wool, the mother of a child named Lee Chan and a lawyer specializing in family law. Underneath her petite figure is a strong and classy woman who can effortlessly give off an elegant aura even if she wears cheap clothing. She was envied by many for having a rich husband, a cute son, and a successful career. When her husband suddenly dies, however, Yeo-wool becomes at risk of losing everything due to the foul stigma that people has cast on widows.
Cho is known for her outstanding portrayals in the TV series Ms. Perfect (2017), Beautiful World (2019), and Woman of 9.9 Billion (2019–2020). In addition, she recently gained international regard for her performance in the Oscar-winning film Parasite (2019), which later earned her Best Actress awards from the 24th Chunsa Film Art Awards and 40th Blue Dragon Film Awards (2019). Currently, Cho is gearing up for the premiere of her latest drama, If You Cheat, You Die, which is slated to premiere on KBS2 this December 2.
High Class will be helmed by director Choi Byung-il of MBC’s Missing Nine (2017) and will operate under the company Production H.
