Cha Ye-ryun cast in fantasy romance drama ‘Perfume’ starring Shin Sung-rok

Actress Cha Ye-ryun will be making her small screen comeback with KBS2’s new drama, Perfume.

HB Entertainment, Cha Ye-ryun’s agency, confirmed on April 4 that she has sealed the deal for her to star in the upcoming series headlined by Shin Sung-rok (The Last Empress). She has taken on the role of Han Ji-na, the ex-girlfriend of Shin’s character.

Cha was last seen in the 2015 drama Glamorous Temptation. If she confirms her participation in the drama, it will be her first major TV project in almost four years.

Perfume is a fantasy romance series which centers on a middle-aged woman who returns to her youthful self with the power of a magical perfume and a fashion designer who is scared of falling in love. Shin Sung-rok will play the fashion designer named Seo Yi-do, described as a neurotic man who is suffering from at least 52 phobias and 35 allergies.

Meanwhile, Go Won-hee has been courted to play another major female role in the drama but she has yet to announce her decision to partipate or not. The role was previously offered to Go Jun-hee, who turned it down for undisclosed reasons. It is not clear yet whether the said role or the one offered to Cha is the principal female character in the drama.

Perfume will be helmed by PD Kim Sang-hwi of Mysterious Personal Shopper and penned by Choi Hyun-ok. It will premiere in June.
