Celebrity couple Lee Dong-gun, Jo Yoon-hee announce divorce

Lee Dong-gun and Jo Yoon-hee have decided to part ways after three years of marriage, reports revealed on May 28.

Jo’s label, King Kong by Starship, has since issued a press release on behalf of the Beautiful Love, Wonderful Life actress, saying, “First, we apologize for delivering this unfortunate news. We would like to inform you that on May 22, Jo Yoon-hee officialized her divorce with Lee Dong-gun through a settlement finalized before the Seoul Family Court. We ask for the understanding of those who congratulated the couple on their marriage and have cheered them on. Jo Yoon-hee will do her best to continue greeting you all with good promotions in the future.”

The agency cited “irreconcilable differences” as grounds for the couple’s separation.

On account of Lee Dong-gun (Leverage), his agency, FNC Entertainment, addressed the issue in a similar announcement that stated, “Lee Dong-gun reached such a decision after serious contemplation. We apologize for causing concern to many. He will work harder to give a better impression as an actor.”

Lee and Jo kindled a whirlwind romance after co-starring and getting to know each other on the set of KBS2’s family comedy series The Gentlemen of Wolgyesu Tailor Shop (2016–2017). The two registered their marriage in May 2017 and announced that they were expecting. They then held a private wedding ceremony four months later, and in December of the same year, the newlyweds welcomed their baby girl.

Jo Yoon-hee is said to have received custody of their two-year-old daughter.
