BLACKPINK’s Jisoo confirmed for first lead role in new drama ‘Snowdrop’

The moment BLINKs have all been waiting for is finally coming!

On the morning of August 18, media reports have revealed K-pop idol Jisoo’s casting for her first-ever lead role in the new drama Snowdrop (working title). The series is currently under discussion to air on JTBC.

In response to the exciting news, YG Entertainment issued an official announcement, stating, “It is true that Jisoo will be starring in Snowdrop.”

Jisoo, whose full name is Kim Ji-soo, has gained worldwide popularity as one of the four members of BLACKPINK, today’s highest-charting Korean girl group. On top of her incredible vocals and slaying visuals on all of the singles the group has released since 2016, Jisoo has also shown her acting skills through cameo roles such as in the KBS2 rom-com drama The Producers (2015) and just last year in tvN’s romantic fantasy series Arthdal Chronicles (2019).

Snowdrop is set to be spearheaded by Yoo Hyun-mi and Jo Hyun-tak, the screenwriter-director duo behind JTBC’s record-breaking satirical drama SKY Castle (2018–2019). Though details about the storyline as well as Jisoo’s character are still being kept under wraps, the singer in confirmed to mark her formal small-screen debut in the upcoming drama.

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK is currently gearing up for their highly anticipated comeback on October 2 with the group’s first full album. They have also made recent headlines after unveiling teaser images of their forthcoming music collaboration with American singer-actress Selena Gomez, set to drop this August 28.
