The much-anticipated team-up of Bae Suzy and Nam Joo-hyuk in the upcoming drama Start-Up is also coming to Netflix this October!
The new series from tvN features a star-studded main cast with Bae Suzy (Vagabond), Nam Joo-hyuk (The Light in Your Eyes), Kim Seon-ho (Catch the Ghost), and Kang Han-na (Designated Survivor: 60 Days) in the main roles. Set in a fictional version of the tech hub Silicon Valley, Start-Up will revolve around the start-up companies in Sandbox, where young entrepreneurs venture into the world of business and hustle to achieve their dreams.
Center character Seo Dal-mi, played by Bae Suzy, dreams to become the Steve Jobs of Korea. Coming from a simple background, she makes up for what she lacks by being passionate in what she does. To save up for her dream business, she works multiple part-time jobs. Meanwhile, Nam Joo-hyuk has signed up to play Nam Do-san, a math genius whose company Samsan Tech is struggling to say afloat. Dal-mi mistakenly remembers him as her first love, and Do-san decides to work with that misunderstanding and eventually make it real.
Joining them is Kim Seon-ho who plays Han Ji-pyung, a senior investment manager at a venture capital company whose impressive investment skills and sharp tongue gave him the nickname “the Gordon Ramsay of investments.” Kang Han-na, meanwhile, plays Won In-jae, a second generation chaebol heiress with desirable qualities—education, good background, and beauty—but she is still fighting to work her way up the start-up world and be acknowledged.
Start-Up is a collaboration of director Oh Choong-hwan (Hotel del Luna) and writer Park Hye-ryun (Pinocchio, Page Turner), who both worked together with Bae Suzy in the 2017 legal fantasy series While You Were Sleeping. It is produced by Studio Dragon and will air on tvN for South Korea and on Netflix for the rest of the world.
