Bae Sung-woo turns into sharp-eyed reporter in fresh stills from SBS’s ‘Fly Dragon’

Ahead of its premiere this October 30, SBS’s Fly Dragon has unveiled new stills of lead actor Bae Sung-woo as he transforms into a skilled reporter for the upcoming legal slash comedy drama.

Fly Dragon tells the story of public defender Park Tae-yong (Kwon Sang-woo, Queen of Mystery 2) and reporter Park Sam-soo (Bae Sung-woo, Live), who have teamed up in questioning the several cracks condoned in Korea’s societal and judicial system. Driven by the same set of principles, the two set out to challenge unjust norms while representing falsely accused offenders.

In the freshly released stills from the series, Bae Sung-woo once again displays his versatility as an actor by effortlessly melting into his character, Park Sam-soo. Based on Sam-soo’s expressions in the shots, the optimistic reporter seems to tread through life just like how any other human being does—smiling over things that make him happy or excited, getting confused at situations that don’t make much sense, and putting his serious face on when the circumstances call for it. His relatable qualities and approachable disposition could be the very reasons why Sam-soo sees “normally uninteresting” news stories in a different light. He might be chasing those stories because he understands that they are the ones many people also experience in their ordinary lives.

The series promises the unprecedented tandem of Park Sam-soo and Park Tae-yong. One is an emotional reporter who wants to make money through justice, and the other, a hot-tempered but brilliant lawyer who dedicates his knowledge to fighting for the socially underprivileged. Whether and how exactly the two will overturn the plate of iniquity in a seemingly impenetrable judicial network are what the viewers must watch out for in Fly Dragon.

Previously called Fly from Rags to Riches, Fly Dragon is helmed by director Kwak Jung-hwan, director of the two-season series Chief of Staff (2019), and penned by first-time screenwriter Park Sang-kyu. It is scheduled to air every Friday and Saturday at 10 p.m. KST, replacing Alice.
