B1A4’s Jinyoung in talks along with Cha Tae-hyun to star in new rom-com drama ‘Police Academy’

K-pop idol and actor Jinyoung (Jung Jin-young) is potentially teaming up with popular actor Cha Tae-hyun (Team Bulldog: Off-duty Investigation) in the new KBS2 romantic-comedy series Police Academy.

In response to initial reports about the casting, Jinyoung’s agency BB Entertainment said, “Police Academy is one of the works [that] Jinyoung is considering.”

Police Academy will follow the growth and comedic romance experienced by young students in a police university.

The story will center on 19-year-old first-year student Kang Seon-ho, the character offered to Jinyoung. Seon-ho lost his parents in a car accident when he was 10, and he was since left alone to fend for himself. As a result, he was forced to grow up and face the realities of the world at an early age. In spite of the difficulties he experienced, he grew up without greed in his heart. Together with his new campus friends and with the help of a professor named Yoo Dong-man, Seon-ho will journey towards fulfilling his dream, finding love, and discovering himself inside the police university.

In 2011, Jinyoung debuted in the entertainment industry as a member of the boy group B1A4. Aside from his singing career, Jinyoung is also known for his outstanding portrayals in the KBS2 drama Love in the Moonlight (2016) and the two-season Netflix series My First First Love (2019). In June of 2019, the 29-year-old star enlisted in the military as a public service worker and is scheduled for release this April. He will transfer to BB Entertainment after his discharge and will continue his activities through his new agency.

As early as now, interest is already building up for the possible Jinyoung and Cha Tae-hyun onscreen partnership in Police Academy.
