Rookie stars Jung Won-chang and Kim So-ra will be part of OCN’s Amazing Rumor (literal title) cast.
On August 11, Jung’s agency confirmed that the actor will be joining OCN’s new Saturday series Amazing Rumor and has asked for support from fans. Kim has been confirmed for a role as well and is expected to widen her acting spectrum with this new character.
The series is adapted from the popular webtoon written by JangYi and follows a group of demon hunters called “Counters,” each with their own special power. They use their powers to hunt down evil spirits who have come down to Earth to seek immortality and bring them back to the afterlife where they belong. To pass off as ordinary people and continue their mission without disrupting other humans, the group disguises themselves as workers at a noodle restaurant. It stars Jo Byung-gyu (Stove League), Gugudan’s Kim Se-jeong (I Wanna Hear Your Song), Yoo Jun-sang (Graceful Friends), Yeom Hye-ran (Mystic Pop-up Bar), and Ahn Suk-hwan (My Wonderful Life). Also included in the cast are Lee Hong-nae (The King: Eternal Monarch), Choi Yoon-young (Designated Survivor: 60 Days), Lee Chan-hyeong (Hospital Playlist), Moon Sook (Kkondae Intern), and Lee Ji-won (Romance Is a Bonus Book).
Jung Won-chang has signed up for the antagonist role of Shin Hyuk-woo. He is a student at the school So Moon (played by Jo Byung-gyu), one of the main characters, is attending. With his father being the mayor, Hyuk-woo does not fear anyone, so he often terrorizes students at school.
Jung plans to leave a strong impact in the series through his character, as a rookie who has accumulated solid acting skills by consistently appearing in plays, dramas, and movies. The actor made his TV series debut in 2016 with a supporting role in the comedy drama My Horrible Boss. He returned three years after that with a few supporting roles such as in Her Private Life (2019) and When the Camellia Blooms (2019). He last appeared with a guest role in My Country: The New Age the same year.
Meanwhile, Kim So-ra will be playing Gi-ran, one of the watchers in the afterlife. She is Ga Mo-tak’s (played by Yoo Jun-sang) partner and is also very justice driven.
Kim is also planning to give a good performance. The actress made her small-screen debut in 2014 with a supporting role in the romance and family drama Only Love. She appeared in many series after that, including the fantasy hit series Guardian: The Lonely and Great God (2016–2017), Stranger (2017), Miss Hammurabi (2018), My Healing Love (2018–2019), and How to Buy a Friend (2020). She is part of the cast of the family drama Once Again, which is currently airing on KBS2.
Amazing Rumor, also A Wonderful Rumor, will be directed by Yoo Seon-dong (Vampire Prosecutor 2) and penned by Yeo Ji-na. As of writing, the second part of the webtoon is still ongoing, but the drama targets to broadcast this coming November.
