Ahn Hyo-seop confirmed to star in new rom-com drama ‘The Office Blind Date’

Ahn Hyo-seop has been cast in SBS’s upcoming romantic-comedy series The Office Blind Date (working title), Kakao Entertainment and Ahn’s agency Starhaus Entertainment announced on June 10.

Based on a hit web novel by manhwa author Hae Hwa, The Office Blind Date is a heart-fluttering story that centers on a regular desk worker named Shin Ha-ri. It begins when Ha-ri grants her friend a favor and goes on a blind date in her stead. To her surprise, she later finds herself sharing a table with their company’s young CEO.

Jo Bo-ah (Tale of the Nine Tailed) and Kim Se-jeong (The Uncanny Counter) were reported to have received offers to take on the role of Ha-ri.

Meanwhile, Ahn Hyo-seop will portray the male protagonist Kang Tae-mu, a third-generation chaebol who seems to have it all─divine looks, a sexy charm, a genius mind, the sense and resourcefulness of a businessman, and Korea’s highest level of affluence. However, because he is a workaholic and loves his job more than anything else, Tae-mu is a bit colder and harsher than most men in his circle. Also, he has developed some sort of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) that makes him extremely hate the act of lying.

Ahn is best known for his role in the medical drama Dr. Romantic 2 (2020), which earned him several acting distinctions including a Best New Actor trophy at the 56th Baeksang Arts Awards. It is unclear yet as to which series the 26-year-old actor will be seen next, as he also signed up for a lead role in Red Sky along with Kim Yoo-jung.

The Office Blind Date will be helmed by director Park Sun-ho of Suspicious Partner (2017) and penned by screenwriter Han Sul-hee of the multi-season drama Ugly Young-A (2007-2019). Produced by Cross Pictures, the drama is slated to begin in the second half of this year, with a target to air in the first half of 2022.
