Dear KDP reader,
It’s been over six months since I founded Kdramapal (KDP). I initially launched the website with a WordPress subdomain (kdramapal.wordpress.com) and due to my commitment to making Kdramapal bigger and helpful to the online community of Kdrama fans, this website (www.kdramapal.com) was created. As the site grows, I know that managing the website alone would become a grueling task. Hence, I want to work with someone who could help me in writing content and achieving the goals of KDP.
If you are someone 18 to 25 years old who is absolutely a fan of Korean dramas (in other words, you are someone who could talk to me about Korean dramas overnight with burning passion) and a very talented writer who could easily write news and feature article with almost perfect grammar and style, I would like to invite you as a Co-owner of KDP (2 positions available).
The Perks: “What’s in it for me?”
The first one is X Percent of KDP’s net income from advertisements and affiliate marketing. Ok, don’t get too excited because the fact is, you will never get this money in a month’s time, or even within six months (yes, honestly), or probably not even within one year (depending on how I speed up everything). That is essentially the catch in this financial perk (that again, it’s not gonna happen overnight!!!). However, your earning potential is huge because you will receive a certain percentage of the website’s net income. Here’s the math: if the website earns a net income of $1,000 in a week, you get X percent of that amount. But what exactly is that X? It depends on the amount of time you would like to dedicate to KDP but it should be between 10 and 25 % (In case you think you deserve a higher share or you really want to work as a full-time Co-owner, I will negotiate with you when you get accepted).
The second perk is you get to enjoy writing about something you love — Korean dramas. This is only possible if you are really passionate about writing content related to Korean dramas. I started this website with the long-term goal of making it profitable but I am a big fan of this kind of TV show that I truly enjoy what I am doing and it doesn’t bother me if it would take several years before I could earn some bucks from it (or in fact, if I don’t earn at all). Similarly, you should be very passionate about Korean dramas for you to enjoy writing. If you are planning to apply for the position only for money, I am discouraging you from doing so because most likely, you will just end up quitting after a couple of days or months.
The third one is you get to decide this and that for KDP. You are a Co-owner after all. Co-OWNER, yes.
A free website or blog with a free domain (www.yourwebsitename.com). This is subject to some conditions. Needless to say, you cannot run a website or blog with content that competes with Kdramapal. Is this really free? Yes, absolutely. Your site/blog will be hosted using a shared hosting account from Bluehost.
Who Should Apply?
I am looking for someone who is truly interested in writing about Korean dramas and is very capable of producing content fit for publication on the website. I don’t care if you live on the other side of the globe; as long as you are a true Kdrama fanboy/fangirl whose writing skill is amazing, do consider working with me.
The position is perfect for you if you have tried blogging about Korean dramas before (or still doing it right now) on subdomain sites owned by third parties (e.g. WordPress and Blogspot). If you run a website with a personal domain (www.yourKDRAMAwebsite.com), I won’t mind it so long as it does not publish content that directly competes with mine. I am also willing to work with bloggers with existing self-hosted websites related to Korean dramas as long as we agree with each other’s terms and conditions.
Lastly, this job suits you well if you don’t mind waiting several months (be aware of this info please) before you reap the fruits of your work (or your hobby, if you consider it as such). If you have once tried writing recaps, reviews, or anything Kdrama-related out of your sheer interest and without even receiving anything, why not do it this time for KDP? You will be compensated (albeit late) while doing something that you enjoy.
“Hey, why don’t you just hire someone?”
I won’t stay in KDP as a very active member for a long time although I will still write occasionally and manage some admin stuff, so I need someone whom I could confidently entrust KDP to when that time comes. I have this belief that I could trust that person if he/she works with me on his/her accord and can patiently wait for the perks. Patience is a virtue, now I agree.
I will hire paid writers though, but not right now. Maybe next month, or the month after, or next year. Just visit this page again for that announcement.
I already worked with Co-owners before but most of them quit because of the workload. They said they couldn’t keep up with the responsibilities considering their personal careers. I understand, so this time I will let you suggest your own workload (a factor that will affect your X Percent). BUT, each Co-owner regardless of his/her desired workload is required to write a minimum of six (6) articles per week, one of which must be a feature.
How to apply
To recap, you can apply for the position if you are an 18 to 25-year-old who is (1) very passionate about writing content related to Korean dramas, (2) very capable of writing high-quality news and feature articles, (3) more than willing to wait for at least six months before you can receive your share. If you are sure that you meet these requirements, then please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org explaining why you deserve to become my partner in managing KDP. Use “KDP Co-Ownership Application” as the subject. You should also attach the following:
- A sample of news article related to Korean drama (please read this and follow its format).
- A sample of feature article related to Korean drama. If you have your own blog or website with a similar content (feature about any topic related to Korean drama), you don’t need to write this one. Just give me a copy or a link to one of your website/blog article.
If you have a blog or website that also publishes news and feature stories about Korean dramas and you want to work with me via a merger or partnership setting, you may not need to submit sample articles. Let us talk about the terms of the final arrangement. Thank you :).
Note: This application is open to anyone from around the world and will run on a first-come, first-serve basis. As long as you can still read the application information on this page, it means you can still apply.
