Upcoming JTBC romantic series Was It Love? has released a Western-themed teaser featuring lead cast Song Ji-hyo (Lovely Horribly), Son Ho-jun (The Light in Your Eyes), Song Jong-ho (Arthdal Chronicles), Koo Ja-sung (The Secret Life of My Secretary), and Kim Min-joon (Babysitter).
Was It Love? tells the story of movie producer Noh Ae-jung (Song Ji-hyo) who has been rearing her child alone for the past 14 years. Despite having already given up on romance due to a bad history of intimate relationships, she ironically finds herself embarking on an unexpected chapter of her love life when four men decide to pursue her, all at the same time.
The 42-second clip introduces the main cast of characters in a creative concept inspired by the Wild West. It opens with a thrilling scene where Ae-jung and her daughter Ha-ni (Um Chae-young) are being chased by five wicked horsemen armed with swords. Just when the helpless mother and child get surrounded, a mysterious horse-riding savior shoots one of the bad guys, making Ha-ni cry out in relief, “Father is here!” The video then becomes more interesting when the four male protagonists start coming into view.
Ae-jung watches in astonishment as the handsome gentlemen valiantly rush to their aid. She begins counting out loud, “What? Two…three…four?” while the appealing A-list actor Ryu Jin (Song Jong-ho) and the scary but sexy gangster-turned-CEO Goo Pa-do (Kim Min-joon) both come mounted on their horses, all ready for a daring horseback rescue, whereas the cheerful teacher Oh Yeon-woo (Koo Ja-sung) and the irresistible writer ex-boyfriend Oh Dae-oh (Son Ho-jun) go for a more contemporary recovery mission on wheels.
The four appear together in the frame, smiling, then Dae-oh dramatically smirks and says, “Hi.” Ae-jung, who is clearly bemused, turns to her daughter and asks, “But who among them did you mean?”
Also known by its literal title We, Were in Love, the comedic four-against-one romance story is penned by screenwriter Lee Seung-jin. Its director, Kim Do-hyung, is no amateur to the genre, having previously led successful rom-coms such as Princess Hours (2006), Mischievous Kiss (2010), and 18 Again (2017). The series recently released its official poster.
Catch Was It Love? every Wednesday and Thursday at 9:30 p.m. KST beginning July 8.
