12 K-dramas, not 11, to premiere in September; Ji Chang-wook’s ‘Melting Me Softly’ releases new poster

This is to clarify that 12 K-dramas, NOT 11 as stated in our latest new Korean dramas feature, will premiere in September! This is because Arthdal Chronicles will air its final episode on September 22, so another series must take over its time slot on the 28th.

That series is the Ji Chang-wook led Melting Me Softly, which released today a new poster confirming that it will indeed premiere on September 28 as a Saturday-Sunday drama! It is a sci-fi romantic comedy about a man and a woman who take part in a televised experiment called the Frozen Human Project. Ji Chang-wook (Suspicious Partner) plays a successful variety program director whose latest show will have him and other people be frozen for 24 hours.

Meanwhile, Won Jin-ah (Life) plays the female lead role, a part-time employee at a broadcasting station who joins the experiment in exchange for 5 million won (approximately US$4,200). The deal sounds perfect for her until she wakes up 20 years later and realizes that she had somehow traveled through time. The 24-hour duration was a total lie.

Melting Me Softly revolves around how the two main characters adjust to their new environment where they must maintain their body temperature at 33 degrees Celsius (91.4 degrees Fahrenheit) to survive.

It seems like a lot of silly things are going on in this drama, but if they exist with the right purpose to make this entire show great, why would you and I complain?

In the new poster, Ji Chang-wook and Won Jin-ah are literally frozen in ice with puzzled expressions on their faces. Also featured in the new promo are (from left to right) Jeon Soo-kyung (My First First Love), Yoon Seok-hwa (The Miracle We Met), Kim Won-hae (When The Devil Calls Your Name), Yoon Se-ah (SKY Castle), Shim Hyung-tak (Welcome To Waikiki 2), Jung Hae-kyun (Kill It), and Im Won-hee (Chief of Staff).

Melting Me Softly is one of tvN’s four star-studded weekend dramas in the second half of 2019, following IU’s Hotel del Luna and Song Joong-ki’s Arthdal Chronicles and preceding Hyun Bin’s Crash Landing of Love. It comes from writer Baek Mi-kyung of Strong Woman Do Bong Soon and Woman of Dignity and PD Shin Woo-chul of Where Stars Land and Secret Garden.
