Jung Il-woo eyes fusion historical drama ‘Haechi’

Jung Il-woo is considering to headline a fusion historical drama titled Haechi as his first drama after his mandatory military service. He is currently carrying out his mandatory national service which will be completed on December 2, 2018. His management agency, HB Entertainment, announced on October 10, “Jung Il-woo is positively reviewing the new SBS weekend drama ‘Haechi.’ However, he is still in the middle of his service as a public service officer and is concentrating on his duties. At the moment, he is simply taking the project into consideration.”

Jung Il-woo last played a lead role in the 2016 tvN drama Cinderella and Four Knights.

Haechi centers on a prince who teams up with a ragtag group of people to take the throne. Jung Il-woo is considering the role of Prince Yeoning who is not acknowledged as the rightful heir to the throne because his mother is a commoner. The series is a fusion sageuk inspired by the mythological creature Haechi, a guardian of justice. It comes from the writer of top-rated operiod dramas Lee San and Dong Yi.
