10 Highest-Rated Korean Drama Episodes in 2017

This entry is part 4 of 5 in the series Dramatop 2017

We’re down to the 4th ranking of Dramatop 2017, our post series that ranks Korean dramas in 2017 based on television viewership ratings. This ranking contains the top 10 dramas based on peak ratings, which (as you can see below) are achieved mostly during the final episode. In fact, 15 of the 20 (75 %) dramas mentioned below pulled in their highest ratings during their finale. Most of these dramas are among the highest-rated as far as average ratings are concerned, which implies that those which performed very well in terms of viewership tend to get their all-time high rating during the final episode. Makes sense, because viewers won’t skip watching the end of the story they love and the characters they root for. 10 Highest-Rated Korean Drama Episodes in 2017 (Cable Category)

Woman of Dignity

Woman of Dignity tops this list, with a whopping 12 percent that beats Prison Playbook by a small margin. These two dramas are certified hits as double-digit viewership for a cable drama is so difficult to get. 5 % is already enough reason for a celebration, so surpassing 10 percent is really something. tvN has the most number of shows on the list, while the other two networks have two each. In 2016, tvN had 9 out of ten, with OCN having to manage to include one show. JTBC’s drama viewership really improved in 2017 as manifested by its two shows on the list and the rest that recorded decent viewership throughout their broadcast.

  1. Woman of Dignity — 12. 1 % (episode 20, final)
  2. Prison Playbook — 11.2 % (episode 16, final)
  3. Strong Woman Do Bong Soon — 9.7 % (episode 10)
  4. Live Up To Your Name — 6.9 % (episode 16, final)
  5. Secret Forest — 6.6 % (episode 16, final)
  6. Tunnel — 6.5 % (episode 16, final)
  7. Avengers Social Club — 6.3 % (episode 12, final)
  8. The Most Beautiful Goodbye in the World — 6.2 % (episode 4, final)
  9. Voice — 5.4 % (episode 3)

Me? Just an ordinary lad with an extraordinary (says this something called 'stereotype') habit of watching Korean dramas. It started with action-filled City Hunter and the rest, as they say, is history.
